The event weekend began on Friday evening with a VIP Reception with Gary Jobson, National Chair, for qualifying fundraisers. Afterwards, all guests were treated to a motivational and unique presentation by Jobson. A wide array of delicious hors d’oeuvres were donated by J&W Seafood of Deltaville, VA. Following the first day of racing on Saturday, skippers, crew and guests attended the Awards Gala, a BBQ dinner prepared by Catering by Jill of Richmond. The evening featured the introduction of honored heroes, blood cancer survivors who shared their stories and express gratitude for those helping to fund the fight against blood cancer. Event sponsors and fundraisers were recognized and daily sailing awards were presented. A silent & live auction was held and the evening concluded with live music from Premiere. The weekend event concluded after the second day of races on Sunday when daily and overall sailing awards were presented at a post-race reception. Thank you to the 83 registrants who participated in the 2012 Leukemia Cup Regatta held July 6-8, 2012. More than $110000 in cash and over $22000 of in-kind donations resulted from the efforts of sailors, sponsors, committee members and volunteers.
