Veteran skier prepares for 28th Vasa ski race after lung cancer diagnosis

The North American Vasa is kicking off their 37th annual Festival of Races this weekend at Timber Ridge Resort. John Bruder is a lifelong skier who will be participating in his 28th race this year. In 2010, Bruder was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer and has been receiving treatment for the past two years and recently finished his final round of radiation treatment. According to friends, Bruder has chosen to focus on his favorite things including skiing. On Saturday the Vasa is hosting a “Ski with John” 12k.
