Dr. Vipul R. Patel on New Guidelines for Prostate Screening Tests

The United States Preventative Task Force issued a recommendation in May 2012 that PSA screenings for prostate cancer are unnecessary. Dr. Vipul Patel, Urologic Oncology Director at Celebration Health at Florida Hospital is adamantly opposed to the task force’s recommendation. Dr. Patel believes without annual PSA testing, many more men will die from prostate cancer unnecessarily. Dr. Patel and the International Prostate Cancer Foundation have launched a national petition to ask the task force to reconsider their recommendation. If you want to join the fight by adding your name go to www.change.org/FightProstateCancer. You can also help spread awareness of prostate cancer by donating to the International Prostate Cancer Foundation in partnership with the Florida Hospital Foundation through a text on your cell phone. Just text the word FIGHT to 27722 and $5 will be donated to the cause.
