Meet Joanne Silberner: Treating Cancer in Developing Countries

After visiting Uganda and India, Silberner now files her dispatches from Haiti, where she finds a pattern also prevalent in the other two countries: poorer and less educated population do not come in for treatments, which then perpetuates the myth that all cancer is deadly. In addition to the lack of awareness, many in developing countries face difficulties accessing healthcare centers and their resources while others struggle to afford treatments.
