Penn Ovarian Cancer Research Center — 2011 Beneficiary of The Philadelphia Antiques Show

Proceeds from the 2011 Philadelphia Antiques Show will support the Penn Ovarian Cancer Research Center in establishing a new facility connecting Penn with community-based gynecologic practices and medical centers throughout the Mid-Atlantic region to collect, transport, process and store tumor tissue normally discarded in initial cancer surgeries. George Coukos, MD, PhD, director of the Penn Ovarian Cancer Research Center, discusses The Philadelphia Antiques Show’s selection of the center as the 2011 Beneficiary. With the establishment of this innovative facility and network, Penn Medicine continues its tradition of initiating cutting-edge medical research, and expands awareness of cell-based immunotherapy by reaching out to the wider medical community. Visit the Penn Ovarian Cancer Research Center website: www.uphs.upenn.edu Since 1962, The Philadelphia Antiques Show has raised over $17 million towards the advancement of patient care at Penn Medicine. The 50th annual Show, taking place April 9-12, 2011, is expected to attract 10000 visitors and raise nearly a million dollars for the 2011 Beneficiary, the Penn Ovarian Cancer Research Center.
