Yet another ‘victim’ of Evidence-Based’ Medicine approach the Ontario Government uses to block access to Health Care. This patient had a completely unnecessary lung biopsy, but in Ontario, this is one of the only ways patients with lung cancer can get a PET scan. In Quebec and the rest of the ‘civilized’ world, the PET would have been done BEFORE THE BIOPSY, and then the biopsy would not have been necessary. Sadly, this patient lives in Ontario which has the most restricted access to PET Scanning in the world. Dave Webster MD FRCP
